and attended the 8th ASEAN Council of Bureau Working Group (COB-WG)Meeting

Thailand National Bureau of Insurance by Mr. Nopadol Santipakorn, Managing Director of Road Accident Victims Protection Company Limited, attended the 8th ASEAN Council of Bureaux Working Group Meeting (COB-WG) which was held virtually through Video Conference on 16 August 2021 at 703 RVP meeting room. The meeting was attended by ASEAN Secretariat, AIC Secretariat, National Bureau of Insurance of ASEAN Member States. The event was jointly organized by Thailand National Bureau of Insurance and AIC Secretariat.

The meeting shared the progression of CoB Activities, the development on ASEAN Scheme of Compulsory Motor Insurance (ACMI) and the ASEAN Customs Transit System (ACTS). Through the discussion on implementation of Protocol 5 – the ASEAN Scheme of Compulsory Motor Vehicle Insurance of AFAFGIT, all country members shared the updates on compulsory motor insurance laws of their respective country.

There were notable updates regarding the ACMI system which all member countries agreed to utilize and to sign an MoU on cooperation to utilize ACMI as central platform for ASEAN compulsory motor insurance and to issue E-Policy and E-Blue card for cross border vehicles and transit transport operators. The MoU is expected to be signed by National Bureau of 10 Member States on 11 October 2021.  And the ASEAN CoB Website is expected to be ready by October 2021.
